Use the Excel importer to onboard many clients in one go — for example when you migrate from another system or sign a portfolio of new entities.

  1. Click Clients in the sidebar.
  2. Click the three-dot menu in the top right and choose Import (under Data Management).
  3. Pick the client type to import — Individual or Entity.
  4. Download the Excel template. The template includes columns for every standard field plus every custom field configured for that client type.
  5. Fill in the rows. Leave columns you don't have data for empty — the importer will skip them.
  6. Save the file and upload it.
  7. The platform validates the file and shows a preview with any errors highlighted (invalid emails, dates in the wrong format, duplicate names, etc.).
  8. Fix any errors and re-upload, or proceed if everything is clean.
  9. Click Import to create the clients.

Imported clients appear in the clients list immediately. Custom field values are populated from the matching columns.

Tip: For ongoing imports, keep your Excel file in the same format as the template so future imports work without reformatting. The importer matches by client name and unique identifier where available — running the same import twice updates existing records rather than creating duplicates.

Note: The importer creates only clients and their custom fields. To import workflows, time entries, or invoices, use the dedicated importers on each of those modules.
