Custom overrides let you grant or remove specific capabilities for a single team member without changing the defaults for everyone else at the same access level.

  1. Open Settings > Users.
  2. Click the team member's name.
  3. Open the Permissions section (or click Custom Permissions on the user detail page).
  4. Toggle individual capabilities on or off. Each capability shows the default from their access level — overrides are highlighted so you can tell at a glance what differs from the defaults.
  5. Click Save.

The user now has bespoke permissions. They keep their underlying access level, but the toggled capabilities override the level's defaults.

Tip: Use overrides sparingly. If you find yourself making the same override for several people, it is often cleaner to adjust the access level itself (Settings > Access) so the change applies uniformly.

To revert to the level's defaults, click Reset to Defaults in the Permissions section.
